水野家はとてもいい家柄だったんだけど、だからこそMSGを家に置くわけには行かなかったの。
そこで従者を連れて福岡の外れの縁戚の家に預けられたのよ。
でもそれが新たな悲劇を生んだのよね。
田舎の小学校に１人だけ所謂「知恵遅れ」の子が入ってきたもんだから、

所謂「知恵遅れ」と言っても小学校に入った頃は
周りの子より三回りぐらいアタマの弱い子って感じだったみたい。
でも学年が上がるに連れて他の子との学力差が出てきて、
しかもこの頃から虚言癖が出てきたみたいでみんなから「嘘吐き照子」と呼ばれてたらしいわ。
中学校からは世間から隔離された養護施設に預けられるようになったわ。
もちろん養護施設というのは私たちがそう呼んでいるだけで、
当のMSGは何をとち狂ったか「私は特別な子ぬぁぬぉ」と勘違いをし始めたわ。
ある意味特別っちゃ特別なんだけどね。
ご両親も従者の人もMSGには本当のことは言えなかったみたい。
そうそう、大事なことを言い忘れていたわ。
これは15年ぐらい前の話ではなくてももっともっと昔のことなの。
その頃は小学校の歴史の授業では今の学校では絶対に教えない
身分制度についての説明があって、例の差別用語もここで習ったとのこと。
都心では少しずつ教えられなくなってきた言葉でも、
田舎の学校ではまだまだその教えは健在だったと聞いているわ。
私は帰国子女よ。
海外暮らしが長いの。

A former McDonald’s worker has turned the stomach of fast food fans by sharing ‘disgusting’ photos from inside a mouldy ice cream maker.
Teenager Nick, who did not disclose his surname, shared the photos on Twitter, claiming: “This came out of McDonald's ice cream machine in case y'all were wondering…”

The 18-year-old says he worked at a McDonald’s outlet in Louisiana for five months, telling BuzzFeed he posted the photos to let people know “how disgusting the conditions are”.
Nick claims he lost his job shortly after posting the photos “exposing McDonald's”, but tweeted that he already had another one lined up when he decided to post them online.

McDonald’s said in a statement the equipment seen in the photos does not come into contact with any food.
“We are committed to running great restaurants that provide our customers with high quality food, service and a clean environment,” a spokesperson said.
“This is a part of our soft serve equipment that does not come into contact with any food and is required to undergo regular and timely cleaning.”

An 18-year-old killed Wednesday in a tragic ride malfunction at the Ohio State Fair has been identified as Tyler Jarrell of Columbus.
Ohio State Patrol said in a press release Thursday that it was still looking for witnesses after part of a pendulum-like amusement ride ― called the Fireball ― disintegrated during operation Wednesday night, injuring seven people and killing Jarrell instantly.

“Tyler was one of those kids that was friends with everyone,” Logan Landefeld, a friend of Jarrell’s since middle school, told HuffPost. “He wouldn’t make fun or hurt anyone, he was helpful, nice, and a very respectful young man, and he’s gonna be missed.”
Brandon Caylor, a former night manager at the local McDonald’s where Jarrell worked, said the victim had been one of his top employees.
“He was very hardworking, diligent, funny, caring, and just an all around great person,” Caylor told HuffPost in an email. “He was always a pleasure to work with.”

But the head of the largest fleet in the U.S. Navy, Admiral Scott Swift, was quick to swear his loyalty to the commander-in-chief Thursday, to the point that the admiral said he would hypothetically follow the president’s orders to launch a nuclear missile at China.
“The answer would be: yes,” said Swift, the commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, when asked a question during an Australian National University security conference in the Australian capital, Canberra, the AP reported.

Swift made no suggestion that any such order had been given, but seemed to make the remark in the context of underscoring the U.S. military’s oath of allegiance to whoever holds the office of the president of the United States.
“Every member of the U.S. military has sworn an oath to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic and to obey the officers and the president of the United States as commander and chief appointed over us,” he said.

Swift added that loyalty to the president was an important principle of civilian control over the military, since the president was elected by the U.S. population. “This is core to the American democracy and any time you have a military that is moving away from a focus and an allegiance to civilian control, then we really have a significant problem,” said Swift.
A spokesman for the U.S. Pacific Fleet, Charlie Brown, later said that the premise of the question was “ridiculous.”
The U.S. Pacific Fleet comprises around 200 ships and submarines, almost 1,100 aircraft and more than 130,000 sailors, seamen and staff. It patrols a massive 100 million-square-mile area, stretching from the West Coast of the United States and into the Indian Ocean.

Ocurría en la noche del pasado miércoles 26 de julio, el cantante canadiense salía de la iglesia City Church en Beverly Hills, en las inmediaciones del bulevar Wilshire y Hamilton Drive (California), y atropelló a un fotógrafo.
Al parecer, según relatan algunos de los testigos presentes, todo ocurrió rápidamente.
Rápidamente, tanto los allí presentes como el propio Justin, salieron a socorrer al atropellado que se mantuvo, en todo momento, consciente aunque tumbado en el suelo con dolores en su pierna.
Tras la llegada de los agentes de policía al lugar, el fotógrafo era trasladado a un hospital cercano para hacer un estudio mayor de las lesiones.
Aunque no llegó a hacer declaraciones a los medios allí presentes ni después, vía redes sociales, de lo ocurrido, el cantante sí que declaró ante los agentes.
Tampoco se dio a la fuga y se mantuvo en todo momento al lado del fotógrafo accidentado al que acababa de atropellar.
La última hora de lo ocurrido se traduce en la hospitalización del fotógrafo y la espera de una pronta recuperación del mismo.

It’s long been known that Donald Trump loves his golf. And it’s known he’s very sensitive about his prowess at the sport.
In the 190 days since be became President, he has spent a minimum of 42 days at his resorts that have golf courses. Once, he called up a reporter from the New Yorker to berate him for refusing to go along with his claim that he had completed a round in 71.
Now, it has emerged the White House has stepped in to tweak a transcript of a briefing from the President’s director of communications, Anthony Scarmucci, to make it appear that his golf game is better than Mr Scaramucci suggested.

The Daily Dot reported that in his first briefing, Mr Scaramucci told reporters that Mr Trump was a “very, very” competitive man.
“[Trump] is the most competitive person I have ever met,” he said. “I have seen him throw a dead spiral [a spinning American football] through a tyre. I’ve seen him at Madison Square Garden, with a topcoat on, standing in the key and he’s hitting foul shots and swishing them.”
He added: “He sinks three-foot putts. I don’t see this guy as a guy that's ever under siege. This is a very, very competitive person.”
The White House transcript of the briefing details what Mr Scaramucci said word for word, with one exception - that three-foot putt has turned into a thirty-foot putt.
The White House has yet to comment on whether this change to the transcript was intentional or made in error.

"When I saw my leg on the board, that’s the image my mind gave me, was a cartoon," Leeanne Ericson told ABC News.
Dusty Phillips, Ericson's boyfriend who was in the water with her when she was bitten, told ABC News, "It wasn’t a test bite. It wasn’t a curious bite. This was an attack bite to kill."
Phillips said it was a "beautiful day" on April 29 when the two decided to go surfing together at San Onofre Beach, adding that the "sun was shining, dolphins were jumping out of the water."

Phillips said they suddenly felt something bump up against the board but spotted a seal off to their side, and assumed the seal had bumped them. Suddenly, Ericson was knocked off of the board and found herself directly in the path of a juvenile great white shark.
"I felt it grab me and pull me down," she said, describing how the shark pulled her towards the bottom of the ocean while she aggressively fought back.
Phillips said he knew something was wrong when he heard his girlfriend scream out from behind him.
Ericson said she fought back against the shark as she was being dragged down, punching it and striking the great white in the eye. "I felt like I was digging out a cup of Jell-O," she said of the sensation.
"My only concern was my breathing," Ericson recalled. "I couldn’t breathe."
Meanwhile, Phillips said he "immediately dove under the water in the murky conditions and I couldn’t even see."
The couple said ultimately they are not sure why the shark decided to let Ericson go.
"It could have been me hurting it," Ericson said. Phillips added, that "it might have had a big enough chunk of her flesh."
The shark bit her right thigh and backside down to the bone.
Somehow, the two were able to get to shore with the help of other surfers, where Ericson was induced into a medical coma in an ambulance and later taken by helicopter to a local hospital. After nine weeks in the intensive care unit and eight operations, Ericson is defying the odds.
Ericson said the incident has even brought her closer to Phillips, saying, "I mean, he saved my life."
The mother of three said that her health care bills following the shark bite are enormous, and even though she has insurance, she said it has still put her family in a deep financial hole.
"My antibiotics alone were like $36,000," Ericson said. Ericson's mother has set up a GoFundMe page to help with her medical bills.
Phillips told ABC News that since the harrowing incident, he is back in the water, surfing. Meanwhile, Phillips said there is still a long way to go before she is physically and mentally ready to surf again.

Aujourd'hui, "on a de magnifiques écrans, mais le son des téléviseurs est très mauvais", a-t-il relevé.
Devialet a conclu avec Sky un accord de licence sur le produit final qui intègre ses technologies.

“This is clearly a disappointing moment,” said the Senate Majority Leader after a vote on the Republicans’ “skinny repeal” of Obamacare fell 49-51.
In a speech that began at 1:39 a.m. ET, McConnell stated that Republicans had run on repealing Obamacare for seven years. “We told our constituents we would vote that way,” said McConnell, “and when the moment came, most of us did.”
McConnell glanced in the direction of Senators Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and John McCain, R-Ariz., when he said “most of us.” Murkowski and McCain joined Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, as the three GOP senators whose “no” votes submarined the bill, which was opposed by all 48 members of the Democratic caucus.
McConnell then turned his attention to those 48 Democrats in the chamber.
“Our friends on the other side decided early on that they didn’t want to engage with us in a serious way to help those suffering under Obamacare,” said McConnell of a bill that was subject to no committee hearings and released at 10 p.m. Thursday night, just two hours prior to the vote.
“So they are probably pretty satisfied tonight,” said McConnell of his Democratic colleagues. “I regret to say they succeeded.”

Twitter user @eatmyaesthetics rehashed truly bizarre findings concerning a bunch of Outback Steakhouse locations, which has placed the restaurant chain at the center of an internet conspiracy theory.

Eatmyaesthetics started by looking at a number of Outback locations in various cities. What would appear to some as a well-spaced series of locations, looked to our erstwhile Twitter user like a signal from a satanic cult to others.
Drawing lines between the locations revealed a pentagram, a symbol which has been used by many cultures in the past, including Wiccans and the Freemasons. While there are discrepancies on the true meaning of the symbol, many associate the five-pointed star with Satan, the Illuminati, evil, and witchcraft.
And because the internet LOVES a good conspiracy theory, a bunch of people hopped into the thread to give some more examples, and add to the sarcastic hysteria.

可能從花東登陸，最後又修正從宜蘭登陸。
他表示，氣象局每天會發布八次風雨預報給各縣市作為防災參考，
通常會建議各縣市政府以當天清晨4時的風雨預報作為停班停課標準最準確，不過由於各縣市政府有作業時間考量，
也顧及民眾便利性，通常會以晚間10時的風雨預報作為公布準則。
依據行政院人事行政總處公布停班停課標準，颱風暴風半徑於4小時內可能經過的地區，
其平均風力達到7級風或陣風達到10級風，各縣市政府就可依據氣象局提供資料宣布停班停課。
根據氣象局昨天晚間10時的風力預測，今天清晨6時到中午12時北北基最大陣風都是9到11級轉7到8級，
如果以最大風力判斷，確實符合停班、停課標準，不過桃園市陣風清晨6時到上午12時的最大陣風僅7到9級，距離停班停課門檻仍有距離。
事實上，昨天各縣市政府在晚間7到8時就陸續發布停班停課消息，氣象局預報中心副主任陳怡良坦言，
氣象局的風雨預報是提供給各單位作為防災的參考，不過，是否停班停課還需要綜合很多因素，
到底放不放假的最後決定權還是取決於各縣市政府。

A recent deep dive by Twitter user @eatmyaesthetics into the restaurant chain’s locations had the internet raising some eyebrows. The user’s tweet has been retweeted more than 100,000 times and has started an intense investigation into the real intentions of the popular steakhouse.
The layout of Outback’s locations in several cities bear an eerie resemblance to a pentagram, a symbol used within Wiccan practice and in ancient cultures, but is also often associated with the practice of Satanism in the U.S.
So of course, the Twitter community came together to try to figure out just what could Outback Steakhouse be planning? Things got pretty serious. People needed answers.
Eventually it started to get a little out of hand and the restaurant itself had to step in to set the record straight. Maybe it all just comes back to the Bloomin’ Onion, one of Outback’s trademarks foods.
But really ― turns out it’s all just a coincidence. With almost 1,000 locations, it’s bound to create some crazy shapes if you look hard enough.
While we think it’s safe to say that this rumor is quashed (for now), this strange coincidence goes to show that there’s a little bit of Charlie Day in all of us.

Garay, 28, is the face of the popular Instagram account @JayFromHouston, and some of her photos will have you doing a double-take.
In one, Garay poses with her hair swept up in a bun, flawless makeup, and hoop earrings ― a classic J.Lo look. In another total J.Lo moment,
she cradles her chin in her hand, revealing perfectly manicured nails. And, of course, she has a penchant for pairing athleisure with big hoop earrings just like Lopez.
She even has amazing abs like J.Lo, although Garay’s are even more impressive than the pop star’s.
Church, who left the Cowboys after seven seasons to sign with the Jaguars, said Friday that his new team has “a lot more talent” than Dallas does. Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee was asked about Church’s comments Saturday.

依據行政院人事行政總處公布停班停課標準，颱風暴風半徑於4小時內可能經過的地區，
其平均風力達到7級風或陣風達到10級風，各縣市政府就可依據氣象局提供資料宣布停班停課。

Gemma tells Yahoo Beauty, “What inspires me the most is probably the makeup and effects in movies and TV shows. That always give me heaps of ideas of what I can create next.”
Two years ago, Gemma wanted to do her own makeup for Halloween. That’s when she first fell in love with the craft of creating scary looks.
“I found a YouTuber called Mykie, who also does special-effects makeup,” she says. “I had never really heard much or seen much about special-effects makeup, and I found it really interesting. And I found myself continually going back to watch her videos over and over again,” Gemma tells Yahoo Beauty.
After familiarizing herself with the craft by watching videos online, she decided to try it herself for Halloween. “I remember telling my mom that I wanted the makeup for Halloween, and I ordered a few products online. And I’ve been teaching myself how to do SFX [special effects] makeup ever since then.”

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he and President Donald Trump have spoken by phone and agreed to take further action against North Korea following its latest missile launch.
Abe told reporters after the call Monday morning Asia time that Trump pledged to "take all necessary measures to protect" Japan and that Abe praised his commitment to do so.
Abe said Japan would pursue concrete steps to bolster defense system and capabilities under the firm solidarity with the U.S. and do utmost to protect the safety of the Japanese people.

Franklin County Coroner Anahi Ortiz told ABC News affiliate WSYX on Friday that Jarrell suffered head, trunk and lower extremity injuries when the Fire Ball malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday night.
The man's father, Anthony Jarrell, told ABC News on Thursday, "He was loved and had a future, until the disaster at the Ohio fair. My question is who [is] responsible for not doing their job of inspecting the rides?"
According to The Associated Press, Jarrell's family has hired an attorney to possibly pursue a wrongful death lawsuit.

“If the commander-in-chief won’t take care of our veterans, our veterans will.
I will do surgery for free on the number of people that I have already lined up for surgery,” she said. She added that she’s “more than happy” to do so.
The scope of the transgender military ban, which Trump announced in a series of tweets on Wednesday,
remains unclear. Military officials were caught off-guard about the policy change and said they were awaiting instruction on how to implement it.
White House officials were unable to answer reporters’ questions on when the ban would go into effect and whether it would apply to current military members,
leaving the fate of McGinn’s patients and thousands of others hanging in the balance.
“It’s obvious discrimination,” McGinn said. “I think any fifth-grader could see that.”
Trump claimed in his announcement that transgender service members “burdened” the military with “tremendous medical costs and disruption.”
But as McGinn and many others have noted, the cost of caring for those personnel is a drop in the bucket of the military’s massive budget.
The military’s transition-related health care costs, for example, amounted to less than 10 percent of what it spent on erectile dysfunction prescriptions in 2014.
“I think it’s being twisted and spun to make it seem like it would be more than it is,”
McGinn told CNN of Trump’s budget claims. “I think the cost of getting rid of very well specialized,
trained military service people is exponentially larger than just taking care of them.”
Those that choose to have transition-related surgeries may only be out of work for a few weeks, she added.
“Most of my patients are back to work in six weeks, sometimes two weeks,” she said. “I think that this is getting inflated to make it a little more political.”

The Mendota Heights Police Department said there is no known connection between the suspect, 44-year-old Lucifer Nguyen, and the victim, 47-year-old Beverly Cory, who was killed in the St. Paul suburb of Mendota Heights on Saturday.
The police said Sunday that authorities were working on several leads and that Nguyen is believed to be armed and dangerous.
According to The Associated Press, authorities said Nguyen was armed Saturday when he went into a house in Mendota Heights and demanded money from a woman. Nguyen then allegedly led police on a car chase, crashed and fled into a senior living center, where he allegedly forced employees into a closet at gunpoint, the AP reported.
Police said Nguyen then left the senior center and went to a nearby office building where he allegedly shot and killed Cory, a financial adviser who worked in the building, the AP reported.

Hollywood and Broadway are mourning the loss of Sam Shepard. The Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Oscar-nominated actor passed away on Thursday from complications from ALS. He was 73.
The star of movies such as Black Hawk Down and The Right Stuff touched many lives in the entertainment world, particularly Jessica Lange’s. Shepard and Lange were in a relationship for nearly 30 years before splitting in 2009.
While Lange has yet to release a statement, many of Shepard’s peers have taken to social media to express their condolences.

Playwright and actor Sam Shepard has died, according to family spokesperson Chris Boneau. He was 73.
Shepard died at his home last week in Kentucky after complications from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, Boneau said.
"The family requests privacy at this difficult time," Boneau added. Funeral arrangements will be private.
Boneau said Shepard was open with those who asked him about ALS and was not afraid to speak about it.
"He faced the disease head on without an ounce of self-pity," he said.
Shepard, whose work spans more than five decades, was nominated for an Oscar in 1983 for his role in "The Right Stuff." He also had a very successful career off-screen.
He won a Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1979 for his play "Buried Child," one of 40 he wrote over the years.
An Illinois native, he began his acting career in the early 1960s working off-Broadway, then moving to Broadway and the big screen in the 1970s and 1980s. Two other notable plays by him are 1980's "True West" and 1983's "Fool for Love."
On the silver screen and TV, Shepard followed up "The Right Stuff" with "Steel Magnolias" in 1989, "Dash and Lilly" in 1999 (for which he earned an Emmy nod) and "Black Hawk Down" in 2001, among a slew of other projects.
More recently, he starred in Netflix's "Bloodline" in 2015 and was in this year's "Never Here," which hit movie theaters in June.
Shepard was involved with Emmy- and Oscar-winning actress Jessica Lange from 1982 to 2009, and they have two children. He also has a son from a previous relationship.
Shepard is survived by his children ― Jesse, Hannah and Walker Shepard ― and sisters ― Sandy and Roxanne Rogers.

The tests on Friday appear to show the AAG and EMALS have overcome issues that cropped up during their development ― issues with the EMALS prompted President Donald Trump earlier this year to admonish the Navy to return to steam-powered catapults.
The tests were the Ford's first shipboard recovery and launch of fixed-wing aircraft, said Capt. Rick McCormack, the Ford's commanding officer. By the end of the day, the Ford had completed four arrested landings and catapult launches, two of which you can see below:
Noel Grullon, who also goes by the name Noel Castro, got into an argument with Allyson Rivera at her house early Thursday morning, police said. Rivera, 27, and Grullon had broken up the night before after dating for six months. She is pregnant with Grullon’s child.
According to CBS Miami, the pair were fighting over cigarettes when Grullon allegedly poured gasoline on Rivera and lit her on fire. Rivera’s children, a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old from a previous relationship, witnessed the entire attack, said police.
Grullon allegedly destroyed her cellphone so she couldn’t call emergency services and fled the scene in a pickup truck.

North Korea has been engaged in "highly unusual and unprecedented levels" of submarine activity in the wake of its second intercontinental ballistic missile launch this month, according to analysis by the U.S. military.
“I want somebody to start fighting for him,” Trump said of the president. “How much weight does he have to carry by himself? My father has the voice of this country. The people of this country love him. Why wouldn’t [Republicans] get in line?”
Last month, polls showed that President Trump’s approval ratings were at historic lows nearly six months into office.
A Washington Post/ABC News poll found that only 36 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance as president. A Bloomberg poll found that Trump had a 40 percent approval rating.
Compared with past presidents, Trump’s approval rating was the lowest six-month approval rating dating back 70 years. President Barack Obama had a 59 percent approval rating six months into his first term.
The president himself has also made clear his dissatisfaction with members of his own party. Last month, the president tweeted that it was “very sad” that Republicans “do very little to protect their president.”
The attack on members of his own party came after the president tweeted his outrage once again over the investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign, an inquiry he has repeatedly labeled as “a witch hunt.”

“primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children.” He was forced to issue additional statements as more and more details about the meeting leaked out, eventually releasing emails conceding that he attended the meeting hoping to get Russian government dirt on campaign rival Hillary Clinton.
“That White House is a real dump,” Trump reportedly told members of his Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, New Jersey, before teeing off recently. The remark was included in a lengthy Golf Magazine feature published Tuesday exploring Trump’s complicated relationship with the sport. The article also appears in the Aug. 7 issue of Sports Illustrated.
It’s no secret that Trump enjoys spending time away from the White House at his own resorts. He’s taken four trips to the Bedminster club since his inauguration, the feature noted. Another site tracking Trump’s leisure reports he has vacationed on 11 weekends out of the 28 in his presidency, costing taxpayers around $29 million.
Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama, commented that the White House, which was rebuilt in 1817, does show its age. WASHINGTON ― The lawyer for a Washington private investigator who is suing Fox News over its use of allegedly invented quotes in a news story advancing a bizarre conspiracy theory said Tuesday he will seek to depose President Trump and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer to question them over their roles in the affair.
“We’re going to litigate this case as we would any other,” and that means “we’ll want to depose anyone who has information,” including the president, said attorney Douglas Wigdor, who is representing the investigator, Rod Wheeler.
The lawsuit was filed in a New York federal court on Tuesday against Fox News, one of its reporters, Malia Zimmerman, and Ed Butowsky, a Dallas-based financier who has often appeared as a commentator on Fox News and allegedly worked with Zimmerman on a story about the death of former DNC staffer Seth Rich.
The suit, filed at the US federal court house in Manhattan on Tuesday, is brought by Rod Wheeler, a Fox News contributor and retired police detective, against the television network, one of its journalists and another of its contributors.
It alleges a May 16 article sought to promote a claim that a murdered Democratic National Committee staffer was the source of leaked DNC emails during last year's election campaign, and not Russian hackers as the US intelligence community said.
"The motivation behind the article.... shift the blame from Russia and help put to bed speculation that President Trump colluded with Russia in an attempt to influence the outcome of the presidential election," the 33-page suit alleges.

WASHINGTON ― Reporter Andrew Feinberg says a Russian state-owned news site he once worked for pressured him to advance a conspiracy theory about the fatal shooting of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich.
Feinberg, who was the White House correspondent for Sputnik, first made the allegations when he left the Russian outlet in May. However, his story is newly relevant in light of a lawsuit filed this week that accused President Trump and the White House of playing a role in a “fake news” story designed to advance the same conspiracy theory.
Feinberg started at Sputnik in January, just as Trump took office. He was the outlet’s first reporter to work inside the West Wing. In a conversation with Yahoo News on Wednesday, Feinberg alleged that Sputnik wanted him to bring up a news article that’s at the center of the lawsuit in the White House press briefing room.
“I’m 45. Even if you want to, at this time in your life, you can’t be perfect,” Vergara admitted. “It’s not that you hate it, or that you’re upset about it, but it is our reality. We’re changing. I see it happening to me.”

Since North Korea first opened the Pyongyang Marathon to amateur runners from other countries four years ago, adventure seekers from around the world have sacrificed basic freedoms and brushed off safety concerns to participate each April.
Among the roughly 4,000 foreign runners have been hundreds of Americans of all ages and backgrounds, from a 79-year-old retired teacher from Washington, to a 33-year-old cable TV technician from Wyoming, to a 43-year-old finance professor from Florida.
